What to Expect in a Reiki Treatment
Reiki FAQ's

REIKI BLISS
WHAT TO EXPECT DURING & AFTER YOUR APPOINTMENT
-
Q. How long is a session?
A session is 80 minutes in duration, to include a 70 minute treatment
-
Q. Where?
In-person at a clinic (subject to availability).
Distant healing service. No need to travel - you can enjoy a relaxing and healing Reiki session from the privacy and comfort of your own home. I remain in my home and enter a meditative state and connect with your biofield. For this to work, we don't need to connect via a video or audio link during the healing. In fact doing so, would probably impair your relaxation, it's much better to have privacy and be able to relax deeply. Also for me too, I can enter a deeper meditative state while off camera. This also applies to distant healing for animals and plants.
-
Q. Help me envisage a session. What does it look like?
For optimal relaxation and comfort, you will be lying down on your back, on a padded massage couch, or your bed/sofa/lawn at home. After internally saying my prayers and calling in spiritual protection for us both, I will then begin to methodically scan your biofield and chakras with my sensitive hands. Because I am able to feel energy and work in partnership with my SGT (Spiritual Guide Team), I will detect any energetic anomalies and which areas are absorbing the most energy. If attending in-clinic, you may feel warmth from my hands when they rest on specific chakras. I work from head to toe, but my SGT may re-direct me to a specific area or instruct me to do additional work; for example emit a coloured light into a muscle or organ.
-
Coloured light! Cool - will I see this?
A proportion of clients report seeing bands of colour in their mind's eye, in the room, over their body, or see swirling like a vintage lava lamp.
Research programs that have built upon the ground-breaking work of Dr. Fritz-Albert Popp show that our body’s cells emit a radiation of 'light' – called 'biophotons'. Especially the fingertips. This cloud of light is spontaneously emitted from the skin of humans, and animals. Plants also emit light. Photonic light is imperceptible by the human eye, but can be measured with scientific methods. Research using an infrared spectroscopy shows evidence of light channels in the body that relate to the meridian system within Traditional Chinese Medicine too.
To see photonic light is a beautiful experience; however it is not a common experience.
-
Q. Will I feel anything?

Q. If an area absorbs more energy does it mean that location has blockages and disease?
It is helpful to understand that I am not searching for 'illness' and 'bad things.' Energy healing does not view things in black and white terms. It isn't about 'getting rid of unwanted things,' like a mine sweeper. When I am sharing the Reiki energy with you, the energy will be seeking to optimize your biological functions, supporting areas where your energy is not flowing optimally for you, and therefore undermining your wellbeing. If I find an area that absorbs extra, for example your heart, it doesn't mean that your heart needs medical help. Together with my SGT, we are enhancing the quality of energy there, starting to release any emotions or trauma that is held there, undermining your wellbeing. Your own innate healing ability will also play a role. We all work together as a team; I don't view the process as me 'giving' a treatment. Is it more accurate to view this as Reiki energy being shared, not channelled. I hold the space and act as a facilitator. We are treating the biofield, boosting the health of the chakra energy centres, which in turn optimizes the health of the physical body.
This is the same for pets and plants. With plants especially, it is all about optimizing internal biological functions and the plants symbiotic relationship with the soil, atmosphere and location. In the human body, biological and functional processes are synergistic and work in harmony. In the musculoskeletal system for example, releasing held tension in the hips or upper back, can often relax a tension in the ankle and foot you were not aware of.
After your session, please allow up to 72hours for me to send a copy of my notes, which list the areas that absorbed the most energy. Plus any relevant shares from my SGT. My notes include a list of physical locations and chakras that have been boosted, rebalanced and optimized. Some areas may need several sessions, if trauma is stored.

How often do I need to book treatments?
See how you feel in the weeks and months after your session, and please assess for yourself when you would like to rebook. An initial course of 4 to 6 healing sessions is of course ideal, but I like to offer flexibility and I am very welcoming of clients that need to book ad-hoc, perhaps a few sessions to clear something acute, an injury or a memory recalled.
One-off maintenance sessions are also available for general wellbeing. Look out for special offers for block bookings.

Q. Does Reiki involve talk therapy?
No. In clinic sessions will include a brief preliminary chat for you to share any reasons/hopes for your session. With distant healing you have the option to chat for 10minutes before your session or a few days before, via Zoom or telephone. Alternatively, you can just send a few details by email or Telegram app - this is a popular choice, especially for follow-up sessions, or situations where you lack privacy and cannot talk openly.
-
Secondary Gains - In the week leading up to your session it can be helpful to spend some time in reflection and make a few notes in a journal or your phone's notepad and feel into anything you are ready to release emotionally or mentally.
One idea is to ask yourself honestly if there are any secondary gains to living with this perceived obstacle you wish to clear? Are there any positive benefits to having this sudden injury, being made redundant, etcetera. It can be enlightening and surprising to realise that serious issues can also hide an element of secondary gains: some random examples are, low income, infertility, a chronic illness, lack of friendships, staying in a loveless marriage. Secondary gains are not always a factor, but it's worth checking-in with ourselves, and asking the question, because Reiki can help release limiting and binding tethers. It's amazing how become aware of a tether, can prompt a healing release.
Hence, mentioning it here.
-
Q. Do I need to undress? - No, for in-clinic treatments you remain fully clothed, but take shoes off. Warm socks can make you feel comfy; cold feet can be distracting during the session. You will be lying down on a padded massage table, covered with a soft throw. A pillow and bolster for comfort.
-
Q. With intuitive healing, do you include animal communication?
Verbal Animal Communication is not part of the session. My focus is on optimizing the bodily functions, chakras, and clearing the biofield, and so my SGT tend to share anatomical and physiological data with me. This is the kind of information I share in your feedback report.
However, I do always take time to tell your pet how much you love and care about them, and explain how the Reiki is like a special gift to help them feel relaxed and enhance their wellbeing. Occasionally a pet or wildlife casualty will convey their needs, direct me to a place they would like extra healing, or will verbally talk to me. Some of the comments they come out with are so cute and make me laugh. I had one feline client tell me they wished they could fly, and Florrie the dog said to me with such joy, "I LOVE my paws!"
-
Q. What does Intuitive Reiki mean exactly?
Intuition with regards to energy healing, is like an extra perk. Giving me access to deeper insights, extra information.
I have been blessed with a psychic ability since I was a little girl and this has developed over the course of my lifetime; due to working on my own healing, plus the ongoing development of a relationship with my Spiritual Guide Team.
In-clinic sessions tend not to offer an environment conducive to a deeper meditative state, so I focus more on intuitive hand placement than messages. Plus the session time sadly does not allow time for discussion and interpretation of messages.
The other way intuition plays a role, is when I scan the body with my hands. Instead of working head to toe as per the traditional Usui Reiki Method. Instead, I allow your body to guide me, and I will hear, sense, know and feel where to move my hands.
**I am looking into offering sessions outdoors in nature and this could offer a form of deeply relaxing intuitive Reiki where we both connect with nature, the elements and nature spirits.
-
Q. Do you protect the space and clients?
Yes. I keep my own energy at a high vibration. I mediate and protect myself daily.
Prior to the session I will clear the space and call in protection. At the start of the healing I will also call in further protection.
-
Q. How can I pay?
In-clinic, cash or card accepted. Cards incur a fee for me.
Distant healing - please pay before session via payment link.
-
Q. How can I prepare for a distant Reiki session
For distant healing clients: please lie down if possible and make yourself comfortable.
Getting comfy 15 minutes prior to the session can give you time to wind down.
You may need a blanket within reach; deep relaxation can cause the body temperature to drop.
Q. Can I listen to music? Choose your relaxing and meditative playlist ahead of time, so you don't feel distracted by selecting the perfect music choices. Gift yourself this time of self-care. It is advisable to turn off any distractions:
non-emergency phone notifications, background radio noise, and TV visuals. Your may find that your pet asks to join you, and this is fine.
-
Q. Any guidance for after the session
It is wise not to rush back to your to-do list. Firstly, ground yourself, by intending to ground into the earth. Call yourself back into your body. You can even say aloud "My spirit is grounded into my physical body and Mother Earth. I am fully present, here and now." It can help to eat a snack, and engage in a hands-on chore like washing the dishes. Further grounding with a few minutes of gentle yoga, tai chi, or chi gung can be helpful.
There is spiritual grounding and physical grounding.
Physical is connecting to the ground and Mother earth. Spiritual grounding is intending/asking for your spirit to be grounded within your body.
If you notice yourself bumping into furniture, dropping things, and feeling daydreamy, these are signs you are not fully grounded. Allow yourself time to sleep afterwards. Snoozing is a common after-effect. Drink plenty of water to aid detoxification, and the mobilization of toxins and old emotions. Infrared saunas and salt baths (equal parts Epsom salt and magnesium), can help with the release of emotions and the detox symptoms from Herxheimer reactions.
Idea: keeping a small Reiki journal to note your progress, any dreams, insights, synchronicities and realizations.
Any further questions, please feel free to email or message via Telegram.
Your pet may sleep deeply. Toileting may increase for 48hrs. Avoid long walks, swimming.
They may feel tired, need peace and quiet.
Clients - as a precaution, avoid driving or operating machinery for 12 hours. Post Reiki relaxation or sleepiness causes errors of judgement, poor spacial and environmental awareness. Please practice grounding yourself and schedule some quiet downtime, a slow walk near water or trees, or a snooze in the park, after the session.
